Resignation came because I already had the faction + subsidiary companies set up to be run by other people. In this case I am actively playing a role to build this family up. Either way, I am not sure how time on a faction matters, only how the faction remains as a legacy. After all, I'm sure what the UA and Pendred want is good, RPing factions that add to the server in a positive manner, rather than long-standing and inactive bosses who won't facilitate any growth.
If I cannot be on consistently for something, I am not going to let the faction die because of my inactivity. So I passed it on to people who CAN be on actively, to help facilitate growth for the server. I will pledge my time to this family, that's why I went through the painstaking process of making an application backstory along with pictures, considering I had a previous stake in the (NY) server before.
