RE: Police power reduction (Miami) - draggydx - 03-30-2022 Sounds a bit ridiculous don't you think. Whats the point of getting rid of risk -1 RE: Police power reduction (Miami) - TheDroppedFry - 03-30-2022 On review, I appreciate the police force for existing as an institution, the only problem I have with it is that the high command are not leading their men. Hardly do I ever see higher-ups routinely on to manage their subordinates, or at least establish some form of activity and participation from the officers to build solidarity, teamwork, diligence and responsibility. I understand that they cannot be on all the time, but it's high time to either start promoting the diligent and responsible officers to higher NCO positions (Corporal, Sergeants, Lieutenants), or start getting on more themselves to keep them in line. The police should not be receiving IA complaints every other day; A good police force won't receive one for weeks or months (save for foetid minges). Discipline is the backbone of any organization. Just look at the UA and Administration of the server! I occasionally check the different forums of the site, and glance upon the staff complains tab, and hardly do I ever see any active complaints. People are satisfied with the administration, because they are efficient, responsible, hand-picked, reviewed, and above all, trusted. That is what the Police Force should carry at all times. And they can only do so with strong leaders. RE: Police power reduction (Miami) - TheDroppedFry - 03-31-2022 I'll make my final argument here. I understand that police add to the fun and risk of being a criminal on the server. But just as having a criminal city with no police would be no fun and a slaughterhouse, having an over-policed state with 25+ police officers patrolling every square inch of the city takes away from the element of conducting shady affairs in remote areas, or even shady parts of town (that cops are meant to avoid- you know, the whole FEARING FOR YOUR LIFE thing). Say you wanted to run an illegal underground boxing ring. Pretty cool, right? Finding some unused property and setting up a quick match, taking money from bets and entry fees, then shutting down to move to another area. A great racket and something that most police wouldn't be particularly prioritizing because of the litany of other, more serious crimes prolific through the city. But with 25 police officers on, who the hell are you gonna attract as an audience before the first rookie cop shows up with an M1 carbine and brings his 10 other friends to come and shut down what couldn't even start in the first place? The point of cops is to give the *vague* impression that one is at risk of being caught. The police should be heavily outnumbered most of the time, because they have the backing of a blank check, free weapons, radios, the backing of PKs and a whole litany of other privileges. They are MEANT to be in the great minority, because even the mere presence of *one* officer should be enough to deter criminals away. Crime families *especially* are supposed to fear cops, because killing or messing with one is risking the destruction of their own business or moneymaking avenues. 25 cops is overkill. Sure, people can go pick up their shipments and sell them to their NPCs through a mule, but that's just keeping the gamemode dull. More illegal opportunities like illegal boxing clubs, or small gambling rackets, or whatever other imaginative or creative thought to add to the experience is just brutally crushed back to the monotonous NPC systems we're stuck with for the bare minimum. Criminals and civilians should be heavily outnumbering police most of the time. That's all I'm saying. That's how you keep the police busy and prioritizing the bigger cases, allowing for lesser crimes like what was named above to foster and manifest from bright mischievious minds. And it will help ensure that those lucky cops who get to represent the PD are held to high expectations, so they will become bastion of responsibility and professionality. RE: Police power reduction (Miami) - Hue - 03-31-2022 this is a ridiculous suggestion RE: Police power reduction (Miami) - Canadian-bacon - 04-01-2022 Either the PD is 'dead' or it's 'too active' Yet the complaints stating that there are too many criminals never make people piss and shit as hard. If a cop is minging or breaking the rules report them and have them punished OOC'ly. Active Police brings a balance to the gameplay as opposed to criminals running 100% unpunished as they continue to do illegal shit without any risk. It's nonsensical, and these arguments only come to light when people are actually arrested to police. "But it's bullshit they're abusing their power" -If it's against the server rules report them -Otherwise report them to IA or sue them -Otherwise it is literally the 1980s, a rougher, tougher slightly more corrupt police force was in fact the reality, it's not like modern policing which is heavily criticized, scrutinized and reformed. The vicious racist Rodney King beating, one of the first serious cases of Police abuse happened in 1991, and those Officers were let off! The server's actual punishment to corrupt officers / excessive force (when caught) is actually more severe then the real life equivalent of the time period. If it does not meet any of the above requirements the arrest was most likely legitimate and you're complaining because they did their job. |
