New Police Equipment Idea - shrimpsgalore - 01-10-2022

Add a mace/pepper spray tool for police.

Rationale 1: This makes roleplay sense. The NYPD had been using Mace (tear gas in a pressurized spray can) since the late 1960's in riots. They officially switched to pepper spray (spicy liquid in a pressurized spray can) in the early 1990's, although some individual cops changed to pepper spray before the department made the switch.

Even though for full accuracy in the 1980's you'd need to give cops a "mace" addon (which I'm sure exists) the effects are basically the same to the point there's really no difference if you used a "pepper spray" addon (there's probably many more "pepper spray" addons to choose from than mace ones)

Rationale 2: This helps officers do their jobs. It is very hard for police to realistically control large and upset crowds in Mafia RP. A regular officer's non-lethal weapons are just a tazer and baton. The tazer has terrible aim... But even if it was great, it can only be used against 1 person at a time with effects that wear off too quickly.

Batons do not stop anyone from doing anything. As of now they just piss people off more. Unless it has a temporary dizzying effect and 1/2 speed reduction, it will not stop any crowd from following a cop that just arrested someone they like. Overwhelmed cops in many situations just turn to FailRP levels of violence, like gunning down 4 unarmed people at once. They are partly to blame but so is their toolkit.

Having your screen flooded with red to the point it's hard to see, being unable to sprint, and a minor amount of damage (like losing 2% health every 10 seconds, ending when a minute passes and you've lost 12% health total) would be a great for police and keeping roleplay free of unnecessary violence

+1, but they probably won’t follow through with it. Too much work, they should also remove the taser, as the first taser wasn’t introduced until 1993. Instead, this mace should be used in place of the taser - to stun and disable suspect until placed under custody.
