Income Inequality on Mafia RP - TheDroppedFry - 01-10-2022 Hello, all. This is a very formal (and sometimes informal) complaint on the general income inequity seen on Mafia RP. As it stands, much of the civilian work that can be seen first-hand by most of the first-joiners of this server is based on NPC work, whether it be fixing conduits, taxi driving, or whatever other minimum-wage work is given to the schmucks that wanna carry on with this kind of work before they inevitably get bored and leave the server. Mafia RP is intended to incite excitement, opportunity and adventure in a person when they first join. Which means that we should adjust much of the economy, gameplay and server rules towards the initial people that have taken time out of their day to download Gmod, then find a Mafia RP server and join it. We do not want to lose people who could be very valuable to our playerbase, and especially those who can help contribute to the overall liveliness of the server. I believe the first way to ameliorate this situation is by fostering a player-fueled company (like a UNION) that encourages player interaction, community, and opens up for the adventures that people look for when they join into the server. I think that creating a good foundation by programmers and players alike can create a permanent foundation for a player-fueled company that appeals to first-time joiners that, upon getting that initial taste of excitement, can then look further into other things to join into (such as NYPD, Government, Mafia, etc.). Rather than joining because they were bored and finding the first thing they could stumble upon, I believe it is better that all 'whiteshirts' get a pathway into legal jobs or companies (AKA "THE ROSSI OIL & FISHERY UNION") that would help them gain the connections and equipment they want to get a proper bearing on what this server offers. I believe that this solution of encouraging and funding legal businesses by the politicians and civil servants (instead of sitting around and drafting bills that will inevitably be passed by the one or two active judiciaries online over nothing special) would drastically improve our playerbase activity and recruitment as regulars, because those who can get an immediate basic understanding will be far more likely to put in more effort to contribute to the liveliness of the server. That's all I have to say. Feel free to leave a comment on your criticisms or discussions. RE: Income Inequality on Mafia RP - Hoovis - 01-10-2022 Drugs make money. You can play the server legally, but you won't make as much money. It's MafiaRP, not WagecuckRP. RE: Income Inequality on Mafia RP - draggydx - 01-10-2022 So you are complaining about a game features that rewards those that invest more time into the server? Those initial jobs are just to help you start off, you are really suppose to find jobs via RP with other players. It is MafiaRP not CityRP. RE: Income Inequality on Mafia RP - JohnnySadNuts - 01-11-2022 I agree with this post they need higher paying or more civilian jobs if it was in the terms the post above states it “Mafia rp not City Rp” then why do we have EMS or even a civilian faction to start off with either way this is rp based server and should be treated and developed as such RE: Income Inequality on Mafia RP - Hoovis - 01-11-2022 (01-11-2022, 12:11 AM)JohnnySadNuts Wrote: I agree with this post they need higher paying or more civilian jobs if it was in the terms the post above states it “Mafia rp not City Rp” then why do we have EMS or even a civilian faction to start off with either way this is rp based server and should be treated and developed as suchWe have a civilian faction for people who just joined the server... We have EMS/Police for when factions fight each other... We have a government so the government can make policies to either promote or discourage the activities of the different Mafia groups... RE: Income Inequality on Mafia RP - TheDroppedFry - 01-11-2022 Drugs and oil shipments shouldn't be the primary ways of making big money on this server. There should be far more player interaction that results in a net profit for everyone. I am simply bringing up the issue of why it is not right that we award people for more criminal behavior than legal ones. The only risk there is in drugs is if the NYPD catches you. NYPD patrols are ineffective on that matter, so there's basically no risk in selling drugs except if you're dumb enough to get caught. 2. I understand the suggestion, however the thing is, the server is supposed to be more focused on illegal activities and crime in general than the legal side of things. I do think it would be interesting to have player-owned properties and businesses instead of it all being restricted to a faction, more legal rackets and generally more business RP and whatnot, though I doubt this is even possible because of the player base, map, or whatever other issues. Highering the amount of money you get from starting jobs could be... useful? But even then it wouldn't exactly fix anything. It may even be kinda pointless tbh. It's better to have new jobs, and generally have the players create more RP than improve the 3 jobs you can have. |
