The Moretti Family
Born in 1936, in Siena, Italy; Manuel Moretti was the child of a Spanish mother and Italian father. His father was a financial assistant, and with his money he moved to New York City with his family, where Manuel Moretti was placed in schooling; However, he was very disinterested in academics and quickly dropped out of university once he reached the age of 19, instead opting to join the workforce.
His charisma and Italian background gained him connections with labor leaders, of whom he formed a close bond with; Soon enough, he had connections with over dozens of work crews, labor companies and small business owners. He decided to use his connections and a few close friends to establish his own company, of sorts.
He began dabbling in small-time drug rackets, as well as investing what money he had in various start-up businesses around New York, as the 1960s swept in and the economy began to rise dramatically post-WWII. He took advantage of this economic boom, growing his rackets and influence over time. However, this wouldn't be the height of his criminal career.
In the 1970s, Moretti took a break from his shady work, which estranged his connections as he looked to re-enroll in university to major in Business Management. In his university years, he lost a lot of influence in the market; Now, in the 1980s, after graduating from university with his Bachelor's in BM, he looks to officially begin a crime family, having experience in the field of doing what is necessary to make himself and those around him very successful. The family is small for now, as it is preferred, while thugs and lackeys are the main bulk of the family's enforcers and associates that get things done for them.
In New York City, Moretti is eager to establish his connections in the labor force once more; He knows he will find a suitable number of candidates to bring into his family if he can dip his toes into the labor industry. Plenty of men, both honest and otherwise, will be cropping up to take advantage of the ever-growing wants of an industrial America. Furthermore, he also looks to get involved with the drug trade; Since the Columbians and other South American countries have cartels cropping up to meet the rising demand of narcotics, Moretti spots an opportunity to get involved with one particular racket; Cocaine.
The biggest usage among Wall Street executives, and for those less-wealthy individuals, crack would be an ideal supply to start selling. He would soon plan this enterprise by getting familiar with the local street gangs, with the Crime Family establishing itself as a clear superior to their small-time antics; But, in return, Moretti knew they would be loyal to a paycheck far exceeding what they made.
Once the street gangs had become familiarized, Moretti would look then to the police force; As crime begins to ramp up within NYC, the Moretti Family would see it fit to get on the police's good side by funding their force as a 'private investor', thereby getting a hand in the judicial system, which would work to their favor later.
Finally, with connections established, the Moretti Family would begin looking to the people; Finding good schmucks to run the coffee shops, bus the deliveries, and maybe some thugs who could help rough up debtors. Beyond that, anyone with a brain might get considered for being made, with enough time, experience and trials. With these plans in mind, Manuel Moretti and his associates have a simple goal: NOT to conquer the entirety of New York City, but to establish their own sizable territory and rackets, and be content with it as they are until otherwise.
Now, he looks to make a name for himself.

Why You Should Consider This
Instead of running through the streets, gunning down enemies and cops out of sheer boredom, made men of this family will be doing Passive RP stuff; Smoking a cigarette while on door duty at a locally-owned business; Playing cards at a table; Scouting out the competition or handling minor bribes. Made men are made for these tasks, or allocating associates to do the grunt work while they manage their own crew. Making the men busy is the most important in preventing mingery, because it keeps hands busy. Furthermore, made men are not running around everywhere in the dozens; At least, they shouldn't be. Made men are usually in the lower numbers, often delegating their crew of associates and soldiers to deal with most of the minor issues.
As for electing capos: They do not get the position easily nor quickly, and usually they have to have a very good trust and familiarity with the boss himself; There will be few and far between, and usually they'll be handling their own sets of crews. Now, I'm definitely not here to list my entire family structure, but you get the general idea. The family is looking to make money, not create an army; Unless there's war.
Chiefly, we won't be PKing people for every minor thing they do to our interests. We live in this community among these people; We gotta preserve their lives and their livelihoods to keep them happy and not wanting to send the police after us every chance they get. This means we gotta build a good rep with the community- That may mean we gotta bust a few kneecaps and beat down a few unruly schmucks that step on our toes- but it doesn't mean we have to kill every single gook and ditsoon we come across. | Now keep in mind, I am gonna use this policy of 'No PK Unless Emergency' as a way to encourage other families to follow suit; If we can start valuing our characters and other people's characters more, as well as their interactions in-game, we can get off this shit-paved path of PK-hungry bloodlust the server seems to be lapping up.
Generally, the family doesn't want to engage in violence unless it feels it's necessary to get the point across. We're not bull-headed asswipes looking to piss on every streetcorner to show how big our dicks are; We're just businessmen, wantin' to make money off shadier modes of income, and keep on the down low; However, that doesn't mean we're afraid of bustin' a few skulls if needed, and OCCASIONALLY 'dealing' with someone that's been messing with the revenue stream.
