Disconnecting or switching characters are in every way against the rules. Even if you are a returning player, you are still subject to the consequences of the rules at any time. And any break of them you will be punished.
I'm sorry that your return has started on the wrong foot but use this time to familiarize yourself with the rules which I believe this ban is justified.
