Manual Restocking - westend - 09-29-2022 The factions are inherently limited in regards to recruitment, as there are not many manageable recruitment techniques like security, waiter and personal driver, etc. I propose that the registers found in businesses should not burst an unlimited source of food and drinks but instead should be manually stocked by players. This way, businesses can have newcomers/interns run errands with some money, and pay them based on their performance (or still follow the classic wage rate method). I believe it could be even better if certain foods and drinks could only be found in certain places (i.e. fish at docks, alcohol near the bar etc.) Not only it gives another way of recruitment but it also encourages people to put some work in with their legal businesses instead of doing illegal narcotic orders 24/7. In my opinion, these are things that should be thought about and realized by UA without the need for a suggestion. RE: Manual Restocking - Manhack Matt - 09-29-2022 +1, W idea RE: Manual Restocking - Pendred - 09-29-2022 This exact system pretty much existed for a while; there are a few NPCs located around the city which would let you buy food and drink in bulk, and players would store it in their property to sell to customers. However a lot of people complained about it, so we made a compromise and allowed vendors with a limit of 10 items. So it's still possible, but players aren't forced to do it. I think that this matter shouldn't be resolved with mere complaints and there should be a greater effort at enforcement. As I said, this gives an opportunity for the expansion of the recruitment procedure. I believe that UA should be actively seeking ways to incorporate new ways and the players should be even more actively thinking out of the box without the help of UA (but there are inherent limits to this). Unfortunately, things like this boil down to one thing: convenience. Quality things are not always convenient and there are no guarantees that these systems will successfully expand the boundaries of gameplay but it deserves a chance. The issue with creative recruitment techniques is that the player does not feel bound to something, like how security would be bound to the business. Yes, the recruiter could be more actively involved with the process but what are they gonna make them do? They don't have much to do on their own except go back and forwards with their vendors. I would love to sit down or perhaps have a public meeting where we can take suggestions on how we can diversify the gameplay and the roleplay. It doesn't have to be a great leap in gameplay with detailed coding or new radical features, I believe that the small steps we take are what is important. RE: Manual Restocking - hopleyt - 10-06-2022 I'd like to take this time and reply to your suggestion as somebody who had lots of experience with the exact system that was fully implemented in the server And although I like the idea of it let me tell you the reasons why it was not successful for me First off it would have been much better if you could buy things as a crate and put the crate in your inventory and then unpack it elsewhere But have that choice of whether it's unpacking your inventory or in a locker or whatever It was very tedious and time consuming to drag each bottle or each piece of food over to the storage unit of choice And yet I still tolerated it and still did it The biggest issue I experienced with that system was the fact that sentence implementation to bringing back the food vendors far too frequent With the lockers glitch and get deleted and then my 3 hours worth of work to stock up my establishment was completely thrown out the window and I'd have to restart And in my opinion it's not necessarily a great job for a new hire you still got to have a veteran with them cuz new hires will lose interest very quickly in my experience if you tell him yeah you got to walk somewhere on the map buy this but you can only carry one shipment at a time like they won't put in that much time But like I said I do support the baseline of it maybe there's Some form of compromise that we can the staff and developers can engineer a better system Maybe there's a way where it's like the faction or the specific person owns the special delivery truck they get the option to buy them in crates and load the crates in the back of a truck drive it to their location and then unload the crates and have it unpack them into your lockers I do agree with you this is something we could have a nice round table discussion on and maybe help better the server all around |
