After some experience in playing on the server, I feel like there should be an addendum added to the rule about no killing someone based on disrespect. I believe in certain circumstances, it doesn't make much sense that a mafia wouldn't kill someone for disrespect depending on the circumstances regarding the actual murder. Here is my thought or idea for implementation to some degree.
1. One cannot kill someone for disrespect in the sense of simply "interpreting" disrespect. Say, bumping into them on the street because gmod has things like lag spikes, and is hard at times not to bump into character models. Nor can one simply interpret everything as disrespect to initiate conflict. Doorways at times can be blocked and model contact is inevitable.
2. Take into consideration where it is the insult is taking place. If within the general vicinity of what could be considered a faction's "turf" which includes the buildings they own and within its general immediate vicinity, then it would make sense for a faction and its members to kill someone for blatant disrespect, as it would be akin to doing ill deed in another man's house or doorstep. Factions, especially the mobs of which are known to do illegal actions wouldn't likely allow for some random to talk blatant disrespects about them on the precipice of their own home. If they did, that would be a faction that is not to be feared and respected if they allowed people to talk obscenities to them in their own home. However, one might be prone to not kill someone say in someone else's territory, as it could stir bad blood if law enforcement and such were lured to another faction's territory because they wanted to shoot a man for saying something in poor taste.
3. Take into consideration consequences. If there is a person on their lonesome, running on up to another faction's base shouting blatant insults, especially when there's people inside, they shouldn't expect to get away scotch free.
4. The severity of the insult.
This came from my experience of a black man running up to the Shamrock bar alone, screaming, "Fuck the Flanagans. Fuck the Flanagans nigga. Fuck the Flanagans." And when I stepped outside, he continued to skirt and scream the exact same insult repeatedly over and over and expected me not to pop a cap in his ass. While yes, the rules state that one shouldn't be able to kill someone for disrespect, this is a rule that gets exploited to do things that aren't very realistic, and or bait people into doing RDM, as I was. These are just my considerations and the thoughts I have made from my experience in the server, as I find that these kinds of things are increasingly common. Generally speaking, I understand the ruling made to have me banned, as I did break a rule present.
However, I feel like that just because something is a rule doesn't mean the rules can't or shouldn't change. After all, all rules generally have flaws, but it's the job of a community to improve them. Especially since it limits people from doing mingey behavior if there's actual consequences. Thank you for reading my insight.
