Organization Backstory (Min. of 250+ Words & any images): Nuestra Familia started in Vallejo California, and spread to prisons across Northern California. Prisons such as San Quinten, Vacaville Federal, and Folsom. Nuestra Familia in English means "Our Family") but on the streets their called Nortenos. While Nuestra Familia is primarily a Chicano gang, membership sometimes extends to other Latinos as well as non-Latinos. Members of the organization are considered to have taken a "blood oath" to join the gang, and are considered lifelong participants. Norteno street soldiers use the red flag to identify who is in the gang. Other symbols include the use of the number 14 or XIV, as the letter "N" is the 14th letter of the English alphabet. Nuestra Familia is in the Heroin, Cocaine, and Marijuana business. because they control prisons in Northern California. Those who want to join must take out someone from a rival. Nuestra Familia's motto is "Blood in, Blood out". Nuestra Familia wants to make a mark in New York.
