This appeal has spiraled out of control has descended into a toxic spew of big words and pointless arguments. I believe I have seen enough to make a decision on the matter.
After spending the last 6+ hours since I woke up investigating this whole ordeal, reviewing evidence, reading over accounts and speaking to those involved, myself and Management have agreed that this situation was a complete and utter disaster. The effects of an FBI agent killing a mob boss during his trial would shake the entire nation; imagine if an FBI agent had gunned down John Gotti during his trials, take the protests that happened in 2020 and times it by 1000. Faith in the judicial system and government would forever be misplaced, it was straight up murder, there was no justification for it whatsoever. I was told a different story by every person I spoke to, however after reviewing the facts and evidence involved, I have a good understanding of what actually transpired.
I debated going down the road of having the FBI subject to a series of investigations and trials by a special prosecutor and or the OPR (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_...onsibility), which would inevitably result in their permanent disbandment from the server given the seriousness of what happened. I would have preferred to of kept this situation completely IC as I dislike having to intervene in affairs that should really be dealt with in roleplay, but I fear what may happen if I do not take action.
I believe it is in the interests of all parties involved to have this situation completely voided, including the court trial that was taking place, and the situation that led up to it, and to use this scenario as an opportunity to set precedent and rectify the various issues that have arisen from this situation and others that have come before it. This situation in particular had no input from either myself or anyone from Management, an issue that will be addressed to those involved to ensure something like this is never repeated.
Last thing, based on the replies I have seen on this thread as well as comments from some, a lot of you seem to forget that this is roleplay, there are limitations and restrictions on how things must be done, everything must be thought through realistically, and the consequences of actions must be considered as they would be in real life. I am planning to personally make a number of reforms on a lot of things to avoid events like this or similar from happening again.
Edit: Anyone who was PK'd as a result of this situation has had their characters reinstated.
