Kentrell “Two-Piece” Devario was the youngest of eight kids. He grew up poor, and with him being the youngest, he wasn’t exactly expected to amount to anything. In school, Kentrell got decent grades, but nothing that could get him a scholarship to a nice university. No, what Kentrell excelled at was his street smarts. Even as a young kid, he was always good at talking his way out of things and adjusted his tone easily when speaking to different types of people.
But when he was eight, his mother left the family and was nowhere to be seen.
Kentrell’s father was a man who tried to keep the family afloat, but with no high school degree, his minimum-wage job at a local corner store couldn’t provide for eight kids. The older brothers helped out, the ones that were still there, but Kentrell was determined to provide for his family. At nine, he made his first drug deal with a high school kid selling pot that he acquired through a friend who stole it from his dad.
From there, he only grew. Within two years, this kid-on-the-street was the go-to pot dealer for high schoolers. He knew how to talk to them and made sure that they knew that he wasn’t someone to be messed with, even if he was a young kid. He made money for his family, always claiming it was lawn work, and started to gain employees. These were mostly other kids that also lived in poverty, but there were some adults too. As long as Kentrell was paying, they didn’t care who they worked for.
Kentrell rarely went to high school with how busy he was. He sold more than just pot, selling LSD to the poor hippies as well as heroin and meth to the addicts. He could tell what he needed to sell just by looking at a person. He made friends and enemies alike, but there was no doubt that Kentrell was on top. They even nicknamed him “Two-Piece” because he always carried two pistols on him.
He amassed a following of many employees as well as an inner circle of people that he trusted. Kentrell started his gang as the 4KT, a group of poverty-stricken individuals who end up getting pretty wealthy from their drug deals. They knew their worth, but they had yet to prove themselves as being violent.
Until 1983.
One of the 4KT members went undercover in another rival gang to see how they did their deals. The man, after a year, was trusted with the gang. One night, in a drunken stupor, the gang leader spoke about how he killed Kentrell’s mom because she was a whore and that the whole gang ended up killing the woman. When Kentrell heard about this from his undercover member, he sought out blood to avenge his mother. He thought she up and left the family when, in reality, she was murdered.
The gang war lasted about two years, and though the 4KT went through hell, Kentrell prevailed. The 4KT proved themselves as a force to be reckoned with, and the whole experience hardened Kentrell. When crack cocaine boomed in New York, he sold that, along with the other drugs, to everyone he knew. The gang truly thrived off of Kentrell’s dedication to the gang.
Just being recently out of the gang war, the 4KT is slowly regaining their numbers and money back, though Kentrell and his members are determined to do whatever it takes. Though still an up and coming street gang in all of New York, the 4KT is certainly not invisible. They could be some of the greatest allies or the worst enemies, but in the end, they watch their own backs. Family, above all, is the most important thing to the 4KT.
