Organization Backstory (Min. of 250+ Words & any images):
-Descendant of the Irish immigrants of the famine during the mid-19th century, what would eventually become the Sullivan Outfit found its deep roots in New York in the early 1900s. In order to stave off the invading Italian and Jewish gangs, multiple Irish gangs would come together to form the well-known Five Points Gang, defending their turfs and neighborhoods throughout New York. The Irish were appearing to be more powerful than ever before, stomping the Jewish and Italians from any territory they lay claim to. During this time, however, multiple small Irish gangs were beginning to bicker over turf gained while fighting their enemies. Eventually, infighting would lead to the Five Points' breaking up into smaller gangs, and thus, the birth of the Sullivan Outfit. Sean Sullivan, born in 1903 to a Five Points member father and a prostitute mother, Sean Sullivan would make a name for himself as a ruthless and cunning gangster on the streets of New York. At just age 15, he joined up with a small Irish Gang known to most as the Waygos, becoming involved against the constantly growing Italian presence in his home city. Sullivan had developed a deep hatred For the Italian people from a young age that would carry on throughout his life until the day he died. When he was only 14, he and his best friend would have a bad run-in with four older boys, Italians, who were in a small unorganized gang that would encroach on Irish neighborhoods looking to pickpocket, mug, and cause general disorder. After refusing to give up money to the boys, they would jump the two, and in the fray his friend would be stabbed to death while Sullivan was beaten badly. This hatred fueling his ambitions, Sullivan committed his first murder at 16, taking a claw hammer to the head of an Italian enforcer sent to collect debts from an Irish cobbler. For this, Sean was given a free pair of all black Oxfords and free cobbling for life.
-Sean Sullivan worked with fellow Irishmen into his 20s, becoming well connected at the start of Prohibition, and starting his own gang in that would become known as The Sullivan Outfit in the late 1920s. Sullivan had to give Irish Americans a way to continue combating the newly organized crews that would become Italian Mobs. Where they could, they would find Italian gangsters, and push them out. When not moving alcohol to speakeasies throughout New York, the outfit would make a hobby out of robbing Italian crews and businesses, Sean leading from the front the whole way. Often violence followed in their path, and bloodbaths would ensue. Although they would make a lot of money in New York through the Sale of alcohol, the Italian presence had become too much to handle, and the Commission was organized. Sensing the Impending doom of the Commission's new New York, the Sullivan Outfit picked up and moved out to find a place where they could stand a chance against the Italians. The outfit would find themselves arriving to stay in South Boston, right at home with the many Boston Irish gangs scattered over the city. Since then the Sullivan Outfit has partaken in gambling and drug rackets, robberies, murders, and continued fighting the Italians. With the outfit being nearly wiped out by a RICO case and infighting through the late 70s, their key members are out of prison and back on the streets, returning back to their deep roots in their home city....
