Organization Backstory (Min. of 150+ Words): The Southside Brooklyn Bloods comprise a set of the United Bloods Nation in the New York (East Coast) region. The gang derives its name from the Los Angeles based street gang known as the Piru Gang, or the West Coast Bloods. The main reasons for the formation of the Southside Brooklyn Bloods is for protection, belonging, and personal gain in a crime filled city. Many African American youths find themselves on the outside of a system built to subjugate them, and seek to create their own fortune in a white urban landscape. The Southside Bloods are a low level street gang, mainly making their money by peddling drugs such as crack cocaine or marijuana, and committing petty crimes like muggings, robberies, or racketeering. The bloods ranking structure is based of respect, with veteran members in commanding positions, and youth members performing the street level crime. Members of the bloods can be identified by their clothing, jewelry, tattoos, and hand signs, primarily using the color red and the letter B.
