Hello, all. This is a very formal (and sometimes informal) complaint on the general income inequity seen on Mafia RP.
As it stands, much of the civilian work that can be seen first-hand by most of the first-joiners of this server is based on NPC work, whether it be fixing conduits, taxi driving, or whatever other minimum-wage work is given to the schmucks that wanna carry on with this kind of work before they inevitably get bored and leave the server.
Mafia RP is intended to incite excitement, opportunity and adventure in a person when they first join. Which means that we should adjust much of the economy, gameplay and server rules towards the initial people that have taken time out of their day to download Gmod, then find a Mafia RP server and join it. We do not want to lose people who could be very valuable to our playerbase, and especially those who can help contribute to the overall liveliness of the server.
I believe the first way to ameliorate this situation is by fostering a player-fueled company (like a UNION) that encourages player interaction, community, and opens up for the adventures that people look for when they join into the server. I think that creating a good foundation by programmers and players alike can create a permanent foundation for a player-fueled company that appeals to first-time joiners that, upon getting that initial taste of excitement, can then look further into other things to join into (such as NYPD, Government, Mafia, etc.).
Rather than joining because they were bored and finding the first thing they could stumble upon, I believe it is better that all 'whiteshirts' get a pathway into legal jobs or companies (AKA "THE ROSSI OIL & FISHERY UNION") that would help them gain the connections and equipment they want to get a proper bearing on what this server offers. I believe that this solution of encouraging and funding legal businesses by the politicians and civil servants (instead of sitting around and drafting bills that will inevitably be passed by the one or two active judiciaries online over nothing special) would drastically improve our playerbase activity and recruitment as regulars, because those who can get an immediate basic understanding will be far more likely to put in more effort to contribute to the liveliness of the server.
