Traffic Tech/Rework
For NYPD/Government roleplay.
Inbox System
Roleplay Additions (all):
For NYPD/Government roleplay.
Inbox System
- Something super secret is in development so I'll just refer to this as "Inbox".
- Instead of using the speed signs that come with the Southside map, allow City Government to set speed limits for certain areas of the city.
- These speed limits can be viewed in a simple car HUD at the top corner of your screen, saying "Speed Limit: XX mph".
- Alternatively, depending on the tech, place down new physical signs on the side of the roads.
- City Government will be able to create/change fine amounts for infractions (via the penal code) depending on how fast someone drives.
- These fines can be sent to a player's "inbox" so they can pay it overtime.
- Radar guns will allow NYPD officers to detect the speed of approaching/passing vehicles.
- Officers would stand on the side of the road and aim the radar gun at vehicles.
- If the speed is above the limit for that area, they can then chase down the vehicle and apprehend the driver.
- Same fine system would work as mentioned above - can be sent to a player's "Inbox" to be paid.
- In order to purchase a vehicle, you must first complete a short (two minute) driving test.
- The test will spawn a no-collided car in which the player would undergo a small course, while explaining the basics of driving and the rules associated.
- At the end of the test they are given a DRIVER's LICENSE item in their inventory (linked to their CHAR ID).
- While driving, NYPD officers can request to see the license and determine whether it is valid or not.
- 3+ infractions (depending on city law) can cause the license to be suspended.
- ^ The player can still drive or purchase cars, but if caught they might be arrested.
Roleplay Additions (all):
- Gives city government more roleplay to do as they are in charge of traffic regulation.
- Speed limits would become a contested area of political policy, encouraging election campaigning in the future.
- Chaotic driving can be deterred and VDM can be avoided (with radar guns).
- NYPD gets more roleplay akin to its IRL operations, and could result in more car chases.
- Licenses could help to deter/prevent minge drivers.
- It ensures everyone knows how to drive according to US road laws (for EU/AU/etc people).
- Presents more risk and consequences for overall bad driving, enhancing roleplay.
