Here's an idea for the ever-encroaching issue of expanding influence and power of crime families:
A threat level chart is created, and the level of threat is assigned to a given crime family is based on the level of wealth, manpower, assets and connections they have relative to the other families. This chart is updated monthly and tracked by administration.
The higher the threat level, the more noticed the family becomes, demonstrated by events against their interests being held by admins more frequently, FBI being more likely to step in based on their wealth accruement, IRS noticing large account payments being made and auditing companies, etc.
If you're a small time family who's just starting off, naturally there'll be no heat, no adverse admin attention, and so on. As time goes on, and this family begins to grow, there should be a larger and larger priority on the admins and UA doing things to mitigate their infinite growth.
It is no secret that some families are able to accrue a gross amount of wealth in a little amount of time, or manpower, or properties and other assets. This system is a simplistic, yet (supposedly) efficient way to give families something to actually worry about with choosing to grow, and being given the road to either having a modest and long-lived family or a giant and unstable one. There would need to be downsides and consequences to having such a large sphere of influence over the server's mafia RP. As one says, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown".
Since I am inevitably anticipating the number of "gud idea BUT it won't work becuz [insert generic and inconsequential issue]", know that there are obviously going to be obstacles or issues with such implementation, but it is better to discuss the possibility and explore avenues than to denigrate an idea into oblivion and deter creativity of thought.
